Let Dr Andrew Thomson be your guide to history and culture either side of the Channel Tunnel - South- East England, France, Belgium and Germany. History expert (History PhD from the University of Kent), experienced guide and tour operator, resident and enthusiastic admirer of Canterbury, Andrew (age 52) runs Dr Thomson's Tours full-time. Established in 1997, the company's guiding principles: to provide personal service, flexibility and enthusiasm. If you want not just to see but to understand the region, come with us.
Our focus in historical terms is in two main periods:
Our no. 1 aim is to give you a good time: clear and interesting guiding, smooth and comfortable arrangements, good hospitality, fascinating places to see.
What do we offer?
We organise tours DIRECT with you, for you - we respond to requests (usually by email or phone) by proposing ideas, with prices and dates. We handle numbers from 1 to 100 - individuals, couples, small groups of friends, social clubs, companies, large organisations, conferences.
Our region is the hinterlands of the Channel Tunnel - in England, the gardens, castles and churches of the counties of Kent and East Sussex, and, at the other end of the Tunnel, the battlefields, towns and countryside of northern France, Belgium, Germany and The Netherlands. Our specialist Germany tours go further east to Berlin, Peenemünde, Nordhausen, and Leipzig.
