IMPORTANT NOTE RE. EUROSTAR BOOKINGS: our price does not include your Eurostar ticket. With prices starting from £59 return, these only open for booking (at www.eurostar.com or 08705 186 186) approximately 90 days before the date of your return leg - viz. around 8th June. Before you book you must wait for our confirmation that we have the required numbers for the tour - we will be in contact as soon as we know that, and certainly before Eurostar booking opens.
The deposit is £ 75 per person (payable by cheque to "Dr Thomson's Tours" - I regret that we do not take credit cards). Payment of the balance will be due 8 weeks prior to the date of the tour. All payments go into our Trustee Account - no funds are released to us until after completion of the tour (as per the consumer protection measures under the EU Package Travel Regulations 1992).
Cancellation conditions (our full Booking Conditions will be sent with your Confirmation - if you are not happy with them then you have the option to cancel without charge within 7 days): on cancellation we will refund your purchase as follows: up to 8 weeks prior to the tour: 100%, less £ 5 p.p. admin charge 4 to 8 weeks prior: 67% 2 to 4 weeks: 34% 1- 14 days: 20% on the day: no refund.
We can book you rooms in the 2-star Ibis Montmartre(near Place Clichy, foot of Montmartre hill) or Ibis Gare du Nord (300 meters east of the station, handy for Metro Line 5 - easy access to much of the city) for £48 p.p. per night incl. breakfast.

Thursday 4th:
Bocage country, Omaha & Utah Beaches, Pointe du Hoc, Ste Mere Eglise
Touring from 08.45 to 16.00 to the west of Bayeux in the Bocage countryside - the classic Norman landscape of small fields, orchards, and stone farmhouses. The German guns on the cliffs at Longues, Omaha Beach (the beach itself, then up to the American Cemetery on the bluffs above), Pointe du Hoc where the US Rangers scaled the 100-foot cliffs, Utah Beach and the town of Sainte Mère Eglise where US paratroopers landed. Back in Bayeux by 16.00 to visit the best World War II museum in the area, the renovated Battle of Normandy Museum, with time in the adjacent British Cemetery.
Friday 5th: 1066 - Bayeux Tapestry, Bayeux walking tour; Pegasus Bridge & Sword Beach
Walking tour of Bayeux (1 mile) ending up at the Bayeux Tapestry, followed by free time in Bayeux until 13.30. 30 minutes to Pegasus Bridge - the story (by the canalside) of the taking of the Bridge by Major John Howard's gliderborne troops at 00.15 hrs on D-Day, 6 June 1944, followed by a visit to the new Museum. Back to Bayeux via Sword Beach.
Saturday 6th: Bayeux market, Caen, back to Paris
Time for the Saturday market (in the square by the hotel), then leave at 09.30 for Caen for a visit to the beautiful Abbaye aux Dames (burial place of William the Conqueror's Queen Matilda) followed by a short guided walk introducing the city from the walls of the castle. Free time (with the option of taking in the Abbaye aux Hommes too, William's burial site) until we leave at 13.30. Back at Paris Gare du Nord for 16.45 - allowing a buffer of time before check-in for the 18.13 Eurostar to St Pancras (arriving 19.33 BST, or 19.17 at Ebbsfleet).

Wednesday 3 September 2008:
from Paris to Juno & Gold Beaches; Mulberry Harbour (Arromanches)
The tour starts at Paris Gare du Nord at 11.00 local time. We will be meeting the 07.30 BST Eurostar from London St Pancras (07.44 from Ebbsfleet) which arrives at 1056 (0956 BST). The D-Day area is 3 hours by coach - with a break for lunch, we will arrive in the area around 15.00. Visit Juno (Canadian) and Gold (British) Beaches - German 'Atlantic Wall' bunkers, tanks, and the impressive remains of the Mulberry Artificial Harbour at Arromanches. Check in to our hotel in central Bayeux at around 18.00. Group evening meal (included in the price) in a regional restaurant near the Cathedral.
£ 345 ($686) per head for the on-ground arrangements in France: transport by coach, guiding, 3 nights accommodation in 3-star hotel in Bayeux (sharing Double/Twin, with private shower & w.c. - Single supplement £ 60 / $119), 3 breakfasts, group meal on the first evening, plus all payable entries (Bayeux Tapestry, Battle of Normandy Museum, & P. Bridge).
