Groups of 5 only possible exceptionally due to limits on luggage space. With groups of five we can take 3 full-sized suitcases maximum (and a few rucksacks, coats etc.). Thus this can work for a family of 5, but does not work well for 5 adults traveling together. With only 4 traveling the rear seat is removed, doubling the luggage space.

Prices are PER PERSON and include: private guiding, transport by car (including. Channel Tunnel crossing where applicable), road tolls & parking, our professional insurance, and accommodation in 3-star hotels (2 star in Verdun, Albert, Arras & Germany) sharing twin/double rooms with en-suite facilities (with breakfast included).

Prices do NOT include: meals other than breakfast, museum entries (thus giving flexibility depending on the weather to go to as many or as few as desired), and personal insurance (purchase of cancellation and general travel insurance is strongly advised)

Some recent written references

Private tours (family groups):

"Thank you for the last three amazing days. We had heard that ‘there was not much left to see’, but your maps and landscape features made everything very real (minus the explosions-fortunately). We covered so much ground: the historical contexts, the details of the battles, the objectives, the losses, the memorials, and also the art, architecture and literature ... Everything came together without a hitch, due, clearly, to your careful preparation and professionalism. We had lots of light-hearted fun, too”
Lyn & Tom Loreck (Perth, Western Australia), Australia & the Western Front tour, March 2008

“I wanted to thank you again for your wonderful tour of the Normandy beach landing sites. We saw and did many great things during our 12 days in France, but your tour was the absolute highlight for the three of us. Informative, educational, but most of all, lots of fun”
Walt Welham (Annandale, Virginia), Normandy D-Day tour, June 2009

"Just a short note to express our sincere thanks for the superbly organized battlefield tour last week. It met, indeed exceeded, all our expectations and has left us with many warm memories, not to mention a greatly increased understanding of the history of WWI”
Cynthia & Andy Hunter (British Columbia, Canada), Canada & the Western Front tour September 2009

“You really exceeded yourself in content, empathy, timing and taste in everything during the week. We loved all the hotels and restaurants, and were put at ease from Minute 1 by your warm welcome and gentle manner”
Jonathan Hick (Barnsley, Yorkshire), Flanders to Normandy tour following where Jonathan’s grandfather served in both WWI and WWII

“Thank you for our dream vacation. ... As a certified PhD in safety engineering I have never seen a better driver nor an individual who had such safety situational awareness for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic movement. You did an excellent job of monitoring our safety”
Mike Manning (Phoenix, Arizona), Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge) to Berlin tour, September 2009

“Thank you for our fantastic three days. Everything you did for us was excellent. Your organization was great and the depth of your knowledge and skill in putting it across made everything clear to us. I would also like to say that it was a great pleasure to have your company for three days”
Calum McCabe (Prestwick, Scotland), World War I (Ypres to the Somme) tour, April 2009

“Jim and I both send our sincere gratitude to you [for] providing us with such a memorable experience. You are a consummate professional: expert in your field of knowledge and highly skilled as a teacher”
Joan McCaffrey (New York), Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge) tour, May 2009

David & Clare Jones (Canterbury), Day Out to Bruges, June 2006

"As always, your light rein was the secret of a successful tour, combined with geniality and imparting of great knowledge, without a hint of lecturing. The coach gave you a captive audience but it was your erudition, laced with anecdotes, that ensured it was captivated"
Stanley Martin (London), Friends of the Imperial War Museum tour to Normandy, October 2004

"[Thank you for] a very enjoyable and thought-provoking tour. I would like to thank you for the excellent story telling, you brought the history alive"

Quotations for other jobs:

Professional Fee ...
This covers all guiding, provision of information, advice both before and during the day on itineraries/accommodation/sights, and (where used) use of our Citroën C8 or rental car for travel (for local travel - e.g. Canterbury to Dover - all petrol and car parking costs are included; for longer-distance travel petrol costs will be incurred - see Costs below).

Whole day (up to 12 hours) from: £ 260 $ 405, € 290
Half-day from £ 135: $ 210, € 150
90-minute Tour of Canterbury: £ 60 $ 95, € 70 for up to 18 people. With over 18 people, we charge £3.50 per head.

... plus Costs:
For a 90-minute personally-guided Tour of Canterbury there are no extra costs.

Note: our 90-minute Canterbury Tour covers the city itself, we end up at the Cathedral, which charges for entrance (adults £8.00) and for its Tour (£6.00) - only the Cathedral's own staff are entitled to guide inside the Cathedral. On our tour you will hear all about the history and architecture of the Cathedral, but the tour does not (can not) go into the Cathedral itself.

For half- or whole-day Tours, costs are limited to petrol (charged only if the journey is more than local - i.e. return trip to Dover) - currently 40p/mile, the cost of entry into places to be visited (from £4 to £10 per person depending on the property: details on request), and - for France & Belgium - the Eurotunnel day return cost for the Channel Tunnel. For Groups, substitute coach costs for petrol. The key to all this is to ASK US FOR A QUOTATION - no obligation, no hassle !

Meals are not included.
